Little Falls NY — The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs have announced the hiring of Joshua Ibarra as an assistant coach for the 2026 season.
Ibarra currently serves as an assistant coach at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky and brings a strong background in both collegiate playing and coaching as well as professional playing experience. A native of Chino California, he has also held an assistant coaching position at Golden West College.
As a player, Ibarra competed at Golden West College where he earned All American honors as a pitcher. During his sophomore season, he finished tied for the Orange Empire Conference lead with eight saves, ranked second in the conference with a 1.90 earned run average, and placed third in strikeouts with 68. He posted a 4 -1 record with eight saves, striking out 84 batters over 61 innings while allowing just 13 runs, 11 earned. Following his sophomore season, Ibarra was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ibarra continued his collegiate career at the University of California Irvine, where he spent two seasons as a key member of the bullpen and earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology. He later transferred to the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he was named Honorable Mention All Mountain West after starting all 14 games. He finished the season with a 6-2 record, 5.73 ERA, and 63 strikeouts over 70.2 innings, including a complete game performance against New Mexico.
Following his collegiate career, Ibarra played professionally in the MLB Partner Pioneer Baseball League, where he was part of a championship team with the Grand Junction Rockies.
The DiamondDawgs look forward to welcoming Ibarra to the coaching staff as the organization continues to prepare for the 2026 season.
