LITTLE FALLS, NY – High-scoring affairs? Low-scoring nail-biters?

The Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs proved they could win in both ways, and the latter certainly happened in a Father’s Day matinee on Sunday.

Mohawk Valley and the Watertown Rapids combined for nine hits and just three runs in their game at Veteran’s Memorial Park. However, the Diamond Dawgs got all three of the runs, shutting out Watertown 3-0.

The score stayed knotted at zero until the fourth when Levi McAllister (Concord, NH/SUNY Albany) rocketed a ball down the left field line. His 2-RBI double brought home Luke Nomura (Maplewood, NJ/Fairfield) and Diego Tavarez (Spotswood, NJ/Wagner).

Bryce Phelps (Denver, IA/Salve Regina) added some insurance in the seventh, floating a ball to right field to bring in Ethan Pues (/Hudson Valley CC) from third base.

Tyler Hodella (Miller Place, NY/Bridgeport) would only allow two hits over the last three innings to put the bow on the Dawgs’ win. Mohawk Valley is now at .500 after weekend wins over Boonville and Watertown.

Jack Montayne (Canajoharie, NY/SUNY Poly) got the win for Mohawk Valley (6-6), while Hodella got the save. David Edwards (Marysville, IN/Georgetown College) got the loss for Watertown (5-9).

Mohawk Valley will be off tomorrow before a short two-game road trip, starting on Tuesday in Boonville against the Lumberjacks. Watertown will head back to the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds on Monday, where they will host the Oneonta Outlaws.
