Dawgs, Outlaws Combine For 28 Hits in MV’s 10-6 Win

LITTLE FALLS, NY – In both games the Oneonta Outlaws and the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs have met – both in Oneonta and both losses – they’ve been held to a total of one run. 

Saturday night in Little Falls – the first time the Outlaws have been to Veteran’s Memorial Park in 2026 — the Diamond Dawgs had three before the first inning was over, and scored seven more in the next eight en route to a 10-6 win.

The Outlaws got on the board first, thanks to a three-run home run by Colton Penner (Wake Tech) that scored PJ Strand (Marist) and Owen Balleau (Long Island).

But in the bottom of the inning, Nolan Colby tied up the score with one swing of the bat, scoring Brodie Freker (George Washington), Byron Arias (Dominican) and Fairfield teammate Jake Haarde on a hard-hit triple to the right-center field wall.

The Outlaws would score a single run in each of the next two innings before Connor Scalan (Fairfield) cleared the bases with a 2-RBI double that bounced off the right field wall. That hit scored Arias and Haarde.

The game would stay tied at five until the fifth, when Scanlan hit a solo home run to center field. Mohawk Valley added to their lead a few batters later, when Erick Diaz (Dominican) hit an RBI single to score Colby.

Oneonta cut the lead to one on a double steal in the sixth that scored Fabio Marquez (Coker). Soon after, however, the lead ballooned back to three on a two-RBI double by Kyle Coleman (Belmont) that scored Colby and Scanlan.

The tenth run for Mohawk Valley came in the eighth on a broken-bat ground out by Colby that scored Freker from third base.

Caden Wells (Trinity) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the save for Mohawk Valley, who goes to 9-4 on the season. Brandon Lynn (Felician) got the win for Mohawk Valley, while David Denten (Herkimer) got the loss for Oneonta, who drops to 5-5.

The Diamond Dawgs will have a day off on Sunday before traveling to Shuttleworth Park on Monday to take on the Amsterdam Mohawks. The Outlaws will also be off on Sunday before hosting the Saugerties Stallions at Damaschke Field.
