By Josh McMullen – Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs
LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Glens Falls Dragons needed just one good inning to send the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs to their third straight loss. They got it in the fifth, scoring five runs to earn the 5-1 victory
Diego Tavarez (Spotswood, NJ/Wagner) represented Mohawk Valley’s first run of the game just four batters in. Brody Rasmussen (Meridian, ID/Maine) brought Tavarez in on an RBI single that just missed the glove of Glens Falls third baseman James Murphy (High Point).
Glens Falls’ first hit and first run came in the fifth, and they both came off the bat of Kyle Wu (Wheaton). His 2-RBI single down the third base line scored Odilio Cespedes (Bryant and Stratton) and Murphy. Kyle McNeff (UMass-Dartmouth) brought home another run on an RBI double before two runs came home on a sacrifice fly and a passed ball.
That would be all Glens Falls would need, holding Mohawk Valley to one hit the rest of the way.
Jayden Hughes (Hudson Valley CC) got the win for Glens Falls (5-23). Marcus Sanders (Reno, NV/Lassen CC) got the loss for Mohawk Valley (15-13), now on a three-game losing streak.
Mohawk Valley will be back at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Saturday for a doubleheader with the Albany Baseball Club. Glens Falls will be back at East Field on Saturday for the first half of a home-and-home series with the Saugerties Stallions.
