The Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs finished up their baseball camp at noon today, and the owner of the team, Travis Heiser, said it was a real success.
“It’s good to have camp every year, especially this year when we had a kid who had played on our local team for three years drafted. I think it’s important for kids to see that if you work hard and do the right thing, it doesn’t matter how big or small the area you’re from, you still have the opportunity to be drafted and play major league baseball,” he said.
Heiser said there were kids in this group that had aspirations to make it to the big leagues. “It all starts here, doing little things like baseball camp, then little league and softball. If they learn a little bit from our players this week about baseball, life, and how to work hard, then good things will happen to them.”
