Open Your Home. Make a Difference. Become Part of the Team.

Are you a baseball fan looking for a unique way to become involved with the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs?

Do you enjoy meeting new people, supporting young athletes, and being part of something bigger than yourself?

If so, you may be the perfect fit to become a DiamondDawgs Host Family.

Each summer, approximately 40 collegiate baseball players from colleges and universities throughout the country come to the Mohawk Valley to play for the DiamondDawgs. For many of these players, it is their first time living away from home for an extended period of time, and for some, their first experience living in a new community.

Our host families play an incredibly important role in making that transition a positive one.

More Than a Place to Stay

Being a host family is about much more than providing a bedroom.

Players become part of your household and experience the community from a local family’s perspective. A welcoming home provides players with a sense of comfort, stability, and normalcy while they are away from their college campuses and families.

Over the course of the summer, players often become much more than guests. They become part of the family.

Host families share meals, conversations, ballgames, celebrations, and countless everyday moments with their players. Those relationships can continue long after the summer season ends.

For families, it can be an incredibly rewarding experience to watch a young man grow as both a baseball player and a person throughout the summer.

Be Part of His Journey

The DiamondDawgs provide players with an opportunity to compete at a high level and pursue their baseball goals. Some players will go on to continue their careers professionally, while others will take the lessons and experiences gained through baseball into their future careers and lives.

As a host family, you have the opportunity to play a small but meaningful role in that journey.

You may be the family that gives a player a home-cooked meal after a long road trip, provides a comfortable place to relax after a game, celebrates a big performance, or simply gives him a place where he feels at home.

Those seemingly small moments can become some of the most meaningful memories of a player’s summer.

The 2027 Season

The DiamondDawgs are currently looking for families interested in hosting players for the 2027 summer season.

The season typically runs from late May through the end of July or early August. Players will have a demanding baseball schedule, including practices, home games, and road trips throughout the summer.

Host families are not expected to provide transportation to every game or activity. The DiamondDawgs organization handles the majority of team transportation and baseball-related responsibilities.

What we are looking for most is a welcoming family willing to open their home and make a player feel like part of the community.

Why Become a Host Family?

  • Make a meaningful impact on a young athlete’s summer experience
  • Become part of the DiamondDawgs organization
  • Meet players from colleges and communities throughout the country
  • Experience summer collegiate baseball from a unique perspective
  • Build relationships that can last well beyond the season
  • Create memories your family will remember for years to come
  • Support collegiate athletes as they pursue their baseball and professional goals

You don’t have to be a lifelong baseball expert or have previous experience hosting players. What matters most is having a welcoming home and a willingness to make a young athlete feel comfortable and included.

Join the DiamondDawgs Family

Our host families are an essential part of the DiamondDawgs experience. Without their generosity and commitment, we could not provide the type of summer experience our players deserve.

If you are interested in becoming a 2027 DiamondDawgs Host Family, we would love to hear from you.

Open your home. Make a difference. Build lasting relationships.
